The Netherlands grows vegetables in the most sophisticated greenhouses in the world. At the end of 2019 BiomicAgritech completed a proof of concept test in a commercial greenhouse in Israel with excellent results. The company is interested to conduct a demonstration test in the NL to tailor the system to the NL requirements. The system can be fully automated.
More automation in greenhouses means less labor. BiomicAgritech has developed a method and a system for growing trellised vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and more) downward from rotatable tubes. Trellising is done by gravity and leaning&lowering is done by wrapping plants stems on the tubes by rotating the tubes. Eliminating the need in trellising, leaning and lowering saves labor and increases fruit production with less pesticides and less virus infection. The problem of labor in agriculture is not only its cost but mainly the absence of field workers. High labor cost results the need for automation.
